Meet the Board

I am a 3L interested in antitrust law, government affairs and political law, appellate advocacy, and civil rights litigation. I have had the opportunity to extern for the United States Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and to work as a Summer Associate at Dentons. In addition to these experiences, I joined LLR—the best decision I made while in law school. Being on LLR gives me the opportunity to contribute to a rich library of scholarship while working with incredibly smart and kind students, faculty members, and legal professionals. Outside of law school, I am a big fan of the NBA, classical and jazz piano, chess, fishing, and golfing.

Before coming to law school, Allison had a career in Operations, Strategy, and Marketing for digitally native brands, most recently as the VP of Strategic Marketing at a footwear start-up. Since coming to Loyola, she’s worked as an Extern in the Central District for the Honorable Michael B. Kaufman and as a Summer Associate in Civil Litigation at RWG Law. She’s been a student staff member of Loyola’s Project for the Innocent since August 2025 and is proud to continue supporting her clients on their innocence claims during her last year of school. In her free time, she enjoys building community through mutual aid organizing, with a focus on homelessness outreach and emergency response. As a native Midwesterner and former New Yorker (who will likely never look back), she continues to enjoy the culture of Southern California, particularly through its food, landscape, and of course, weather.

Hello! I am Julie Kim, a rising 3L. I will be the Chief Production Editor of Volume 60. I will also be on the Scott Moot Court Honors Board. If you have any questions about law review, moot court, or big law, ask me anything (if you buy me coffee or fries from sonia’s lol jk). I love Korean makeup, food, cafes, cats, dogs, hello kitty, and the color pink.

Andy Chen is the Executive Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. He is a fourth-year evening student and the President of the Evening Student Bar Association (ESBA). Before and during law school, Andy worked as a paralegal and case manager at Tsang and Associates PLC, a boutique immigration law firm. He has participated in the Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution clinical work and previously served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. This past summer, Andy also worked as a Summer Associate in Financial Services at Holland & Knight LLP. In his free time, he enjoys running, and trying new things.

I am a dual US/UK citizen from Los Angeles and a University of Oregon graduate, where I majored in Political Science and minored in Legal Studies. I entered law school intending to pursue entertainment law and joined both the Entertainment and Sports Law Society and the Intellectual Property and Cybersecurity Law Society during my 1L year. That summer, I worked as a summer associate at The Freedman Firm, a Century City criminal defense firm focused on white collar crime and complex litigation. This past summer, I served as a law clerk at Werksman Jackson & Quinn, also a criminal defense firm. In addition to my role as Chief Research Editor for LLR, I competed in New Orleans as a member of the National Sports Law Moot Court Team.

I am the Chief Technical Editor for Volume 60 of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. After receiving a Bachelor and Master’s degree from the University of Texas, I worked in sports broadcasting for a few years, mostly as a producer for the broadcast of tennis tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour. Since coming to law school, I’ve focused on taking Intellectual Property courses, participated in the Loyola Moot Court program, and hope to work in litigation upon finishing my course work at Loyola Law School.

Leah Magana is a rising 3L at LMU Loyola Law School, and earned her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in Anthropology.

Daniel Trautfield spent more than a decade working in criminal legal reform as a nonprofit leader, policy advocate, and community organizer before attending Loyola Law School. During that time, he helped develop and advance legislation related to life without parole, felony murder, and sentencing reform in California and across the country. His Law Review article examines procedural barriers to infrastructure development in Los Angeles, using the proposed Los Angeles Aerial Rapid Transit project as a case study in local governance and administrative process. During law school, Daniel has externed with the Honorable Michelle Williams Court of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and worked with the Federal Public Defender’s Capital Habeas Unit and the Bronx Defenders. He hopes to pursue a career in public interest law.

Grady Smith is the Chief Developments Editor for Volume 60. Grady previously served as a Developments author, where he examined the Constitution’s militia powers in the wake of the federalization of California’s National Guard in 2025. Grady also is a certified law student at the Juvenile Innocence and Fair Sentencing Clinic, which focuses on post-conviction resentencing relief for juveniles.

Terrence Knock is a 3L who is pursuing Real Estate law. During law school thus far, he worked as a Research Assistant, a legal intern for a sports marketing agency that worked closely with a high-level NCAA Division 1 athletics program, a judicial extern for the Honorable André Birotte Jr. in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and a Summer Associate for Allen Matkins, a real estate law firm in Downtown LA. Prior to law school, Terrence was an active duty Air Force logistics officer for over eight years and still serves as an Air Force Reservist. When not focusing on schoolwork or working, Terrence enjoys spending time with his wife and son as well as lifting weights, watching sports, and catching the latest episodes of his favorite “reality” shows on Bravo.

Misaki Lin Otani is a third-year law student who serves as Volume 60’s Chief Online & Outreach Editor and President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. She is also a student representative for the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association and a member of the Japanese American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Group. Misaki previously served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Holly J. Fujie (Ret.) and as a legal extern with the ACLU of Southern California. After graduation, she will join Allen Matkins in Los Angeles as an associate.
